Harley Davidson Kids Electric Bike

Harley Davidson is a legendary bike manufacturer. Bikers of all ages dream of owning a bike made by them.

Over the last few years, Harley-Davidson, like many of its peers, is trying to remain relevant for the future. They are finding ways to grow their market to new audiences. One such market is the all-electric bike for kids.

From a position where they had not even one e-bike in their portfolio, Harley Davidson has recently launched several e-bikes. Three are intended for 4 to 8-year-olds. In this article, we will talk about these 3 Harley Davidson Kids Electric Bikes.

Harley Davidson Kids Electric Bike Models

The Harley-Davidson® IRONe16™

This model is the ideal bike for 5-7-year-olds who have a bit of experience riding an e-bike. The bike supports a weight of up to 75 pounds. It supports an inseam of 18 to 24 inches (adjustable).

The bike has a 30-60 minute run time, with 20V max voltage, 4Ah batteries. You can easily extend the ride time by using the push button’s quick release to change the batteries.

The bike has a shallow adjustable seat at a height of 17 inches. In a standing position, this means that your kid can plant their feet firmly on the ground. When in motion, they can easily control the bike when they are going off balance.

The bike has a lightweight aluminum frame (weighs only 19 pounds). It is perfect for your child to control or for you to carry around if needed.

You can encourage your kid to learn safely with the “training” mode, which stops the bike at five mph. The next stage is the standard mode, which goes up to 7.5 mph. The advanced mode can let the child take the bike up to 11 mph.

The Harley-Davidson® IRONe12™

The IRONe12™ is the second model in the Harley Davidson kids e-bike family. This model is intended for the 3-5-years-old kids who love to rock their neighborhood in style! The bike supports a rider inseam of 14-20 inches, and you can adjust the seat height up to a maximum of 13 inches.

The bike has 20V (max) voltage, 2Ah batteries, which can be easily replaced with a push-button release option. The bike can run for 30-60 minutes non-stop and takes about the same amount of time to charge back up.

It weighs a mere 17 pounds and has an Aluminum TIG welded frame, like the E16.

The motor has three riding options, just like the E16. The training mode goes up to 5mph; the standard mode allows the bike to run at 7.5mph. The advanced option lets your kid race the wind at nine mph.

The Harley-Davidson® Brushless IRONe16™

The third variant for kids is the Brushless E16. This bike is intended for 4 to 8 year-olds. It has almost the same specs as the IRONe16TM.

The one significant difference is the high output brushless motor, which increases torque and low-end power.

Brushless motors have high torque to weight ratio, make much lower noise, are more efficient, reliable, and durable. The motor’s design is fully enclosed, protecting it from dust and dirt, making it easier to maintain than a brushed motor.

Factors to consider before buying kids electric bike

Picking the right e-bike for your kid can be difficult. Given that the market is full of many types of E-

Bikes, choosing the one that is ideal for your child is not easy.

However, if you realize where to begin, you can quickly reduce your options and make the correct decision. Here are some things the parents should consider before buying an E-Bike for their kids

Weight of the bike

Would you be able to ride a bike that is too heavy? Just think how difficult it can be for the kids to manage with a heavy e-bike. Buying a lightweight bike for your kid is a good idea. The lighter the bike, the easier it is to handle. A heavier bike is difficult to control on harsh surfaces and can lead to accidents.

Seat Height

Seat height is critical because the child should be able to place their feet on the ground at all times to balance the bike. Try to choose a bike whose seat height is smaller than your child’s leg so that they can sit on it easily.

Inseam

The crotch-to-leg length used when you get custom pants made is known as your inseam. This height is the most important measurement when deciding to buy a bike of any kind, including that more a kid. Most pocket bike manufacturers will specify the inseam length for which the bike is meant.

Child safety

When buying an e-bike, most parents are always worried about the safety of their kids. Try to judge the kind of top speed your child would be able to handle without losing balance or tripping. Also, ensure the bike has safety features like broader tires (for better balance) and headlights and taillights for driving in the evening or night time.

Battery

E-bikes run on batteries which need to be charged from time to time. More expensive e-bikes have a battery that takes less time to charge and is more durable. It is vital to invest in a bike that has a sound battery system.

Price

Different types of E-bikes are available in the market and at different price ranges depending upon their features. Pocket bikes for kids can start from $100 and go up to $1000. Harley Davidson’s e-bikes are at the higher end of that spectrum, but they offer some great features and a reliable brand name that makes them worthwhile.

Conclusion

Owning an e-bike, even a pocket-sized one, can be an incredible thrill for a child.

When you add to that the fact that the bike is made by a legendary bike maker like Harley Davidson, it can be a dream come true.

Harley Davidson has introduced these bikes in the premium category, with some parents’ excellent features to consider. All in all, these bikes may not be a great starter option, but if your child has a bit of experience in riding e-bikes, then owning a Harley Davidson can be a huge deal for them.
