Buyer’s Guide: Electric Scooters For Kids

Electric scooters for kids are different from electric scooters made for adults. Well, to begin with, size and weight limits are the primary differentiating factors but what matters the most is a safe design.

Buyer's Guide Electric Scooters For Kids

As your kids are not some driving expert, you need to buy a scooter with straightforward controls and a safe design to prevent any accidents. Even after all this, make sure to keep an eye on your kid while they drive the scooter.

I have put together a short buyer’s guide of the most important aspects of an electric scooter to make things simpler.

  • Top Speed: Most people like a bit of thrill while driving, but that’s not what you want for your kids. It’s not easy to look after your kids all the time while they ride, so it’s better if the top speed is at the lower end for a kids’ electric scooter.
  • Safe Design and Easy Controls: A sturdy design with easy controls is an utmost necessity in an electric scooter that helps your kid safely drive while remaining enjoyable.
  • Braking System: You need a sturdy braking system for a kid’s scooter that should be hand-operated and smooth, as you don’t want bumpy brakes that your kid can’t control.

Features and Benefits: Razor E175 Electric Scooter

Motor

The Razor E175 electric scooter features a 100 W motor that gives it a speed of 10 mph. You need to get the scooter up to 3 mph by kicking the ground before the trigger starts the chain driver motor.

It is a high torque motor that ensures enough power for a smooth ride. The scooter can be accelerated through the twist grip throttle provided on the handlebar.

Range and Top Speed

The Razor E175 runs on a two 12 V lead-acid battery system which gives it a continuous operation time of 40 minutes, allowing the rider to travel approximately 6.5 miles when fully charged.

The scooter needs to be charged for 12 hours before the first use, and the recharge time is roughly the same on subsequent charges.

Wheels

This scooter features 8-inch pneumatic tires with a urethane rear wheel. The pneumatic tires are especially great for rough terrain as you never know where your kids go while driving, and you don’t want an accident because of that.

Ease of Use

As I already mentioned in the buyer’s guide, the scooter must provide an effortless riding experience. This scooter can be operated easily via the handlebar. Both the front brake and acceleration throttle are on the handlebars.

Assembly

The Razor scooter comes in disassembled but can be put together in just 10 minutes. It is recommended that the scooter’s assembly should be done by adults. All the necessary parts and tools required for the assembly are included in the package.

Potability

The scooter is quite lightweight and not too big, but a big issue with this scooter is that it does not fold; therefore, it might not be as portable as many foldable electric scooters.
